66 - *2 VIKING SWORDS FROM NEAR COLOGNE GERMANY

Vikings and Norman iron swords, originated about 5th century AD. The swords were found buried under water, close to a citadel near Cologne, Germany- they were preserved over the centuries due to freshwater and mud. The citadel was attacked and burned down by the Vikings. Documentation available. Each stored in wooden crates for protection. First sword measures 39 L x 8 W (case measures 45-1/2 L x 12-1/2 W x 3 D). Second sword measures 38-5/8 L x 6-3/4 W (case measures 51 L x 12-1/2 W x 3-1/4 D).
