Irving Amen (1918–2011). Don Quixote and Pancho on a "Quest", as the title suggests. Signed "Amen", titled "Quest", and numbered "P.P." in pencil- for "Printer's Proof". Before the printer runs the edition, the press workers have to run a few prints through the press to get the ink flowing smoothly and at the right consistency and to make sure there are no gaps or bits of debris. After a few that are usually thrown away, there will be a few that look "right" and are saved for the files and labeled printer's proofs (PP). Then the actual artist's edition is run, and the plates are retired, defaced, or destroyed, depending on the agrement with the artist or copyright owner. Work measures 13 1/4" H x 18 1/4" W. Frame measures 16 1/2" H x 20 1/2" W.
