French gilt bronze mantle clock raised on floral scrollwork, dial surrounded in chased foliage & blossoming flowers, a seated cherub with lyre atop. Dial signed "Robin Hger du Roi" as Robert Robin (French, 1742-1799) signed while acting as royal clockmaker (for King Louis XV & XVI) before the Revolution. Case bears the the rare, earlier Medaille d'argent (silver medal) award mark of Vincenti & Cie not the usual 1855 mark usually found. Measures 20" H x 17" W x 10" D.
